No-Fault Divorce
Following the introduction of no-fault divorce rules in April, the process of divorce can now progress more smoothly as there is no longer the need for either party to assign blame. Previously, it was necessary for a divorce to be based on one of the five grounds for divorce.
These were two years of separation with consent, five years of separation without consent, unreasonable behaviour, adultery and desertion. The reforms were made to reduce confrontation in the divorce process, ensuring that the focus can remain on the interests of the children and achieving the best possible outcome for all parties.

Our Fees
Financial obligations are always a major concern in any family case.
Our fees for a straightforward divorce are usually £600 plus VAT. In addition, there is a Court fee payable of £593, although you may be exempt from that payment or be eligible to pay a reduced fee.
Fees in relation to financial matters ancillary to divorce will depend on the circumstances of the case, and we will provide an estimate at your initial free half-hour appointment after discussion with you.
Similarly, with Children Act matters, we will provide an estimate at your initial free half-hour appointment. If the matter does need to go to Court, there will be a Court fee payable of £232 in addition (again you may be exempt from the Court fee).
