As many will now know, divorce proceedings have been simplified. The divorcing party need not provide grounds for divorce, as before, although you still need to be married for twelve months.

They do call it a “quickie divorce” but it still takes six months from issuing the application to the final order. The application can be made by either party, or indeed both parties can apply for a joint divorce.

The application can be made on the divorce portal through HMCTS and it is relatively straightforward. However, some clients do struggle with the procedure and Almy & Thomas have reduced our costs for applying for a divorce up to final order to £400 plus VAT, payable in two instalments during the course of proceedings.

For further advice and assistance please contact Mr. Evans for a free initial half hour appointment to discuss your case further.
