The New Divorce Procedure

We read in the legal press that Divorces have increased by 33% as a result of, presumably in part, the ease of access to the new portal for quickie Divorces and maybe also as the aftermath to Covid, the lockdown and now the financial difficulties the country finds itself in.


We do recommend to clients that they issue their own Divorce petition to save on costs, it is a relatively straightforward procedure to apply for a Divorce on the Government Portal. Although we urge clients to seek legal advice and instruct us regarding Matrimonial Finances and Children Act Matters. Mr Evans offers a half an hour free interview on Family Law issues. Apart from the fact that it give a client a basis for understanding the Financial issues that arise in their case, it also offers the potential for developing a professional relationship between solicitor and client going forward.
