The Government are at last considering changing the law regarding children having contact with their extended family on divorce or separation.

At the moment grandparents, uncles and aunts need to apply to the Court firstly for permission to make an application and thereafter for the Court to award contact rights to the extended family.

There appears to be a likelihood that the Children Act will be amended so there is a presumption that children will have contact with their grandparents, etc., on divorce or separation.

It has been a perennial problem for years that children of warring parties are denied the very important relations with their grandparents.
