No Fault Divorce

The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill has now reached its final stages so that no fault divorces will become live in Autumn 2021. We are not sure why there is such a delay in implementation but it is possible that the lockdown has effected the ability of the Government to implement legislation.

It will not by its nature speed up the divorce procedure. Whilst it might be referred to as a “quickie divorce” the Court still take their time in processing divorce petitions as parties do change their minds and reconcile at any stage in the divorce process.
