Probate Fees

Probate fees are set to go up in April
There is effectively a not insignificant increase for Estates up to a gross value of £500,000 but thereafter for Estates of £500,000 to £1 million the probate fee is £2,500.
The Government is clearly taking the view that the Probate Registry is a branch of the Court process and have pitched fees in a similar way to Civil Litigation Court fees where claims in excess of £10,000 attract a Court fee of 5% of the value of the claim.
There is still scope for impecunious applicants to seek relief from paying the Court fee by completing a form EX160.
Almy & Thomas can advise Clients further in that respect and generally.
